Modeling controlled burning and trampling reduction for conservation of hudsonia montana
Article Abstract:
Populations of mountain golden heather (hudsonia montana) is declining because of fire suppressions and trampling by hikers and campers. Researchers designed an optimal management plan, using demographic data from a five year study, which included a controlled burn, to construct size-based population projection matrices. Their results revealed that size-based projection matrix models are useful in identifying contributions of multiple management strategies for threatened plants.

Influences of hunting on the behavior of white-tailed deer: implications for conservation of the Florida panther
Article Abstract:
Deer hunting by humans impacts deer population dynamics and the behavior of deer predators. Researchers in this study examined changes in deer behavior and their influences on panther movement, mortality, and hunting successes. They presented data on the effect of hunting on the behavior of white-tailed deer on the Osceola National Forest where endangered Florida panther will be reintroduced.
