Forage site selection by lesser snow geese during autumn staging on the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska
Article Abstract:
Snow geese are important consumers of vegetation in North America's arctic and subarctic regions, but the habitat they use on arctic staging areas have been poorly researched. A new study, focusing on tall and russet cotton-grass, investigates the characteristics, availability and distribution of feeding habitats of lesser snow geese during autumn migration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, AK. The findings suggest that snow geese select resources and forage choice in a hierarchical fashion, with selection order moving from large to small scales of ecological resolution.

Survival and recovery rate of Canada geese staging in interior Alaska
Article Abstract:
The annual survival and recovery rates for different age and sex classes of white-cheeked Canada geese staging in interior Alaska are compared with those of neck-collared white-cheeked geese. Estimates of annual survival of white-cheeked geese as per the study are among the lowest and recovery estimates among the highest for migratory populations of neck-collared geese.

Effects of abdominally implanted radiotransmitters with percutaneous antennas on migration, reproduction and survival of Canada geese
Article Abstract:
The effects of abdominally implanted radiotransmitters with percutaneous antennas were examined on adult female lesser Canada geese to monitor movements, survival and reproduction. The findings concluded that abdominally implanted radiotransmitters with percutaneous antennas had small effects on migration chronology but no apparent effects on fecundity.
