'No consensus' on FDA role in gene tests
Article Abstract:
Government representatives of the US Task Force on Genetic Testing committee will not recommend that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) takes on genetic testing responsibilities. The task force, consisting of professionals such as geneticists and ethicists, could not agree on the matter. Many task force members consider the FDA to be an inappropriate organisation to fulfill the proposed function and recommend genetic tests are overseen by Institutional Review Boards.

Jobs crisis sparks call for freeze in number of PhD students in US
