Missing dinosaur skulls raise new fears of smuggling in Moscow
Article Abstract:
Scientists believe that missing dinosaur skulls from the Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, may have been smuggled and sold in the western black market. Institute officials have agreed to take part in an international working group to locate these fossils, to prevent future thefts, and to end contacts with organizations involved in the sale of fossils. The academy deputy director argues that western scientists should focus on the increasing black market in fossils.

A post-genomic challenge: learning to read patterns of protein synthesis
Article Abstract:
It will be necessary to overcome significant technical problems before proteomics can become a large-scale, extremely automated operation in the same way as genomics. The most serious challenge facing proteomics researchers is the 2D gel separation technology, which is currently the only method for resolving large numbers of proteins in a quantitative way. However, even proteomics undertaken on a restricted scale could be of considerable value to clinicians and basic biologists.
