NIH tightens up monitoring of gene-therapy mishaps
Article Abstract:
Concern about the extent to which gene therapy researchers have been failing to comply with the rules on reporting has prompted the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) to decide to telephone all investigators who have registered a clinical trial in gene therapy. The NIH will make information about adverse effects available on the Internet by the end of 2000. However, it is unclear whether this information will list only adverse events directly linked with gene therapy or all adverse events occurring during or following a trial.
