New hair from healing wounds
Article Abstract:
The researchers have shown that the outermost skin layer of wounded adult mice can regenerate new hair follicles during healing. The regenerative medicine has promised to identify natural healing power and a shift from repair to regeneration that inspires new thinking in the management of alopecia, in tissue engineering and in the regeneration of other organs.

Mapping stem cell activities in the feather follicle
Article Abstract:
Long-term label retention, transplantation and Dil tracing are used to map stem cell activities, and to show that feather follicles contain slow cycling long-term label-retaining cells (LRCs), transient amplifying cells and differentiating keratinocytes. The changing topology of stem cell activities may contribute to the construction of complex feather forms.
