Reciprocal model for meeting ecological and human needs in restoration projects
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns a model for ecological restoration that focuses on human relationships to the environment in order to overcome obstacles of time, cost, and labor that often hamper the success of habitat improvement projects. Topics addressed include community participation in restoration projects, and the dynamic relationship between human involvement and project success.

Estimate of the area affected ecologically by the road system in the United states
Article Abstract:
Results show that several of the ecological effects of the road spread over one-fifth of the U.S. land area and will increase in the coming years. The study also points out remedial measures such as accommodating wildlife crossings and closing certain roads to reduce this ecological impact.

The ecological road-effect zone of a Massachusetts (U.S.A.) suburban highway
Article Abstract:
The study examines the road-effect zone in a 25 kilometer highway west of Boston, MA., by measuring for nine ecological factors. Data reveal that the effects extend for anywhere from 100 to 600 miles suggesting that busy roadways and nature reserves should be separated.
