Repression of c-fos promoter by MyoD on muscle cell differentiation
Article Abstract:
MyoD is a muscle-specific transcription factor of the helix-loop-helix (HLH) family that triggers muscle differentiation programs in non-muscle cells. Antagonistic interaction between MyoD and c-Jun was shown. Expression of c-fos decreases with increasing muscle cell differentiation, which is an activity induced by MyoD. MyoD-binding sites have been found to have similar serum-responsive elements. MyoD can suppress serum responsiveness via this binding site, thereby negatively regulating c-fos transcription.

Molecular clocks: Mastering time by gene regulation
Article Abstract:
The internal clock in mammals controls rhythmic physiology and behaviours such as hormone secretion, locomotor activity, and breeding cycles. The clock consists of molecular gears and studies have pointed to a role for transcription. The clock is sited in specific areas of the central nervous system in many organisms, and in mammals the clock is sited in the anterior hypothalamus of the brain, known as the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). Cock molecules have been isolated in certain organisms.

Stimulation of E2F1/DP1 transcriptional activity by MDM2 oncoprotein
Article Abstract:
MDM2, a proto-oncogene in many tumors, has a dual oncogenic nature in that it masks the transcriptional activation potential of the p53 tumor-suppressor protein and binds it while also stimulating the E2F1/DP1 transcription factors, which are involved in S-phase progression. Therefore, it both augments proliferation of the E2F1/DP1 factors while blocking p53.
