Sequenceboy is the new portable, automated DNA sequence recorder from Northumbria Biologicals
Article Abstract:
Northumbria Biologicals Ltd has released the Sequenceboy, a portable DNA sequence recorder. The Sequenceboy is as big as a pocket calculator and is intended to simplify nucleic acid sequence recording and editing. Nucleic acid bases are entered manualy using the keypad or the Reader Mouse keys. Sequences may be accessed and edited anytime and are transferrable to laboratory computers. Users are warned of discrepancies via a warning tone and request for correction. The unit runs on cnventional power sources.

The Cool Glow DNA sequence detection system
Article Abstract:
Intelligenetics Inc's Betagen Div has introduced Cool Glow, a DNA sequence detection system. Cool Glow is a complete reagent kit for the detection via chemiluminescence of the products of dideoxy termination sequencing methods. It was designed to eliminate the use of radioisotopic labels and works by alkaline phosphatase activation of a chemiluminescent substrate. It is compatible with many current sequencing methods.

BioDesign dialysis tubing
Article Abstract:
BioDesign Inc has released its dialysis tubing for use in dialysis for biological research applications. The tubing is made of thin, transparent, tear-resistant cellulosic material avaiable in variable lengths of 100-ft rolls or 12-in cut strips, and five diameters ranging from 6.4 mm to 49.5 mm. They are supplied in air-tight, moisture-proof plastic packs to maintain flexibility and increase shelf-life.
