Simple rules yield complex food webs
Article Abstract:
A simple model predicts key structural characteristics of many complex and comprehensive food webs. The 'niche' model expands the existing 'cascade' model, improving its fit ten-fold, through constraint of species to consume a contigous sequence of prey within a one-dimensional trophic niche.

Allometric degree distributions facilitate food-web stability
Article Abstract:
A bioenergetic consumer-resource framework that investigates correlation between the specific predator-prey body-mass ratio and the balanced tri-trophic (three-species) food chains is described. The stability of food webs depends upon the feeding interactions and the species' body masses.

Unified spatial scaling of species and their trophic interactions
Article Abstract:
The quantitative relationships between habitat area, species diversity and trophic interactions are represented by two largely independent bodies of scaling theory. These theories demonstrate how spatial patterns influence food web structure.
