Star-forming galaxies at very high redshifts
Article Abstract:
Deep field images of sky through the Hubble Space Telescope identifies a range of distant galaxies at redshift z = 3 using the Lyman-limit spectral discontinuity and Ly-alpha-forest spectral decrement. Analysis of a catalogue of 1,683 objects with redshifts ranging from z = 0 to z > 6 shows the high-redshift objects as star-forming galaxies. These galaxies exhibit zero flux below the Lyman limit and strongly absorbed flux in the Ly-alpha forest. They are related to the ancestors of present galaxies at epochs reaching back to the Big Bang.

Million-light-year galaxies and spectral forests
Article Abstract:
Many of the Lyman-alpha emission line systems at the lower redshifts are associated with the galaxies. This has solved all the queries regarding their origin, as intergalactic clouds of the galaxies with similar redshifts provide clear proof that such Ly-alpha absorption systems lie within the boundaries of the parent galaxies. The rapidly evolving red-shift groups, intrinsic line width clusterings, and heavy elements detection in the Ly-alpha systems are some of the still unanswered mysteries associated with galactic research.

A high deuterium abundance at redshift z = 0.7
Article Abstract:
Absorption-line spectroscopy of gas clouds can be used to measure the abundance of deuterium, although such a measurement is observationally difficult. Research sought suitable absorbers at intermediate redshifts and absorbers with apparently simple velocity structures, finding one object appearing optimal for a D/H analysis. Primordial isocurvature baryon fluctuations could account for the D/H variation, and this conflicts with a baryonic density parameter for a homogenous Universe.
