Testing models of non-kin cooperation: mutualism and the Prisoner's Dilemma
Article Abstract:
The Prisoner's Dilemma is a mathematical riddle with a long intellectual history. The iterated Prisoner's Dilemma has provoked 14 years of resourceful biological theorizing. But there is no empirical proof of non-kin cooperation in a situation, natural or artificial where the payoffs are known to be in agreement with a Prisoner's Dilemma in spite of theoretical capability. Tests of substitutes in games with tangible economic outcome are required.

What makes information valuable: signal reliability and environmental uncertainty
Article Abstract:
Function of environmental uncertainty and signal dependence in animal signal usage is discussed. Captive blue jays, Cyanocitta cristata is used as a model to study the most common option adopted by the animals for signaling.
