The India Project for Animals and Nature (I-PAN) is a new group in Tamil Nadu, India formed to help the country's starving and sick animals. I-PAN is headed by Deanna Krantz, the field director of a New York-based group that sponsors educational and on-site programs from Africa to Amazon.

Veal producers suffered a major setback when a federal jury in Milwaukee found Vitek Supply Corp. guilty of smuggling and selling drug-laced feed to veal farmers from 1988 to 1994. The case was triggered by an investigation led by the Humane Farming Assn.
