The world needs more than protests: The green movement has an impressive history of drawing attention to environmental problems. But if these are to be solved it must be more closely engaged in forging partnerships with business and government
Article Abstract:
Green protests groups have brought legitimacy to the concept of environmentalism over the last 30 years, but the problems highlighted by such groups have got worse. The Living Planet report claims that 30% of the natural world has been destroyed over the past 30 years. Such groups must do more than campaign if they are to bring about solutions to problems, and there is a need to demonstrate a global commitment to sustainable development. It is also important to relate environmental problems to the widening gap between rich and poor.

A movement-sensitive area in auditory cortex
Article Abstract:
Activation of the auditory cortex by two acoustic stimuli was compared with identical spectral-temporal patterns but with different binaural timing. Activation was found by both moving and stationary patterns with regard to silence in all four fields of auditory cortex in both hemispheres. The results suggest an area in the auditory cortex which distinguishes moving or stationary sound patterns.

The first movement
Article Abstract:
