Transfer of a pathogen from fish to amphibians
Article Abstract:
Amphibian embryos exposed to infected fish or soil have higher mortality than embryos not exposed to either and this hypothesis is tested in a series of laboratory experiments using embryos of the western toad, Bufo boreas, a species whose embryos were infected by saprolegnia. The results suggest that any effect of the introduced fish on the B.boreas is likely due to be the result of indirect interactions as fish predation is not likely to be important to survival of the western toad because B.boraes larvae are noxious to fish.

Effects of introduced bullfrogs and smallmouth bass on microhabitat use, growth, and survival of native red-legged frogs (Rana aurora)
Article Abstract:
Introducing bullfrogs and smallmouth bass into an ecological niche formerly occupied only by red-legged frogs shows significant effects on the native species. Microhabitat use and metamorphosis duration were not affected by smallmouth bass exposure, and only slightly by bullfrog exposure. However, adding both species to red-legged frog habitat produced serious, long-term effects.

Amphibian Breeding Distribution in an Urbanized Landscape
Article Abstract:
Research on urban wetlands in Pennsylvania shows that regional biodiversity is key to preserving amphibian species, using sites that are linked by dispersal routes, provide adequate buffer habitats, and offer various hydroperiods.
