UK astronomers stunned by Gemini withdrawal
Article Abstract:
The announcement by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) board on 15 November 2007 to withdraw Gemini Observatory is reviewed. The decision is still under negotiation to resolve fund problem, as the decision would deprive many British astronomers from a major telescope.

Canada abolishes its national science adviser
Article Abstract:
The Canadian government's decision to close down the Office of the National Science Advisor in March 2008 is reviewed. The move has received a lot of criticism from some scientists as of the government's lack of interest in science.
