Why are wasps so intimidating: field experiments on hunting dragonflies (Odonata: Aeshna Grandis)
Article Abstract:
The investigation of whether the brown hawker dragonfly, Aeshna grandis, avoids the wasp Vespula norwegica as prey and the cues that dragonfly uses in decision making while hunting are discussed. The results suggest that the typical black-and-yellow stripes of wasps, combined with their unique shape, make dragonflies avoid wasps.

Egg distribution, mate-guarding intensity and offspring characteristics in dragonflies (Odonata)
Article Abstract:
The ways in which egg size, larval size and egg development time are related to oviposition site selection and mate guarding in a dragonfly assemblage of the Namib Desert are studied. Species that oviposited mainly in tandem flight spread their eggs over ponds, which is interpreted as spatial risk spreading.

Territorial and mating success of dragonflies that vary in muscle power output and presence of gregarine gut parasites
Article Abstract:
The study tested the hypothesis that success of male Libellula pulchella dragonflies in territory and mating is affected by muscle contractile performance. An attempt is made to know how gregarine gut parasites affect muscle performance, energy reserves and territorial behavior of their hosts.
