Condensin is required for chromosome arm cohesion during mitosis
Article Abstract:
A novel requirement for the condensin complex in sister chromatid cohesion in Saccharomyces cerevisiae is described. It is shown that during mitosis, condensin is required for sister chromatid cohesion at multiple loci on chromosome arms, but not at centromeric nor telomeric proximal loci and this cohesion is distinguishable from that deriving from the cohesion complex by several criteria.

Systematic analysis and nomenclature of mammalian F-box proteins
Article Abstract:
An analysis of F-box proteins in the human and mouse genomes is presented and these genes are organized in a manner that largely conforms to previous nomenclature standards to develop a comprehensive nomenclature for mammalian F-box proteins. The use of a systematic nomenclature proposed facilitates comparative genomics and drug discovery approaches.

Phosphorylation of RCC1 in mitosis is essential for producing a high RanGTP concentration on chromosomes and for spindle assembly in mammalian cells
Article Abstract:
Cdc2 kinase phosphorylates the serines located in or near the nuclear localization signal (NLS) of human RCC1, the neotide exchange factor for Ran. This phosphorylation is necessary for RCC1 to generate RanGTP on mitotic chromosomes in mammalian cells, which in turn is required for spindle assembly and chromosome segregation.
