Heritability of dispersal rate and other life history traits in the Glanville fritillary butterfly
Article Abstract:
Parent-offspring regression was used to estimate heritabilities of dispersal rate and other life history traits in the Glanville fritillary butterfly under natural conditions in a large outdoor population cage. Results showed that dispersal rate is heritable but only from the mother to her female offspring.

Genetic evidence for a family-based Scandinavian settlement of Shetland and Orkney during the Viking periods
Article Abstract:
The invasion of the Scandinavian invaders had an enduring cultural impact on North Atlantic populations, but the extent of the genetic legacy is not clear. An extensive survey of Y-chromosomal and mitochondrial DNA variation in North Atlantic region is made to explore this idea.
