Linked and unlinked transposition of a genetically marked dissociation element in transgenic tomato
Article Abstract:
Transposition of marked dissociation elements were studied in transgenic tomato. Hybridization data were analyzed using a MapMaker computer program and insertion site distribution data were analyzed using multinomial and binomial distributions. The Dsneo transposition from T-DNA were found to be trans-activated by autonomous activators and continued to transpose across several generations. Ninety-one percent of F2 families studied showed copies of the transposition gene. Dsneo insertions were related to the position of the T-DNA and usually occurred in the same chromosome.

Vertical transmission of the retrotransposable elements R1 and R2 during the evolution of the Drosophila melanogaster species subgroup
Article Abstract:
The transmission of R2 and R1, non-long-terminal repeat retrotransposable elements, is vertical during their insertion into specific RNA gene sequences. The transmission mechanism is investigated by characterizing the R2 and R1 elements located in the melanogaster species from several other retrotransposable genetic elements. The characterization involves the sequencing of nucleotides and genomic blotting.
