Long-range coordination of planar polarity in Drosophila
Article Abstract:
The genetic and molecular evidence for the role of core polarity genes and upstream factors in propagating polarity information, and how gradient and cell-cell interaction models have continued to be invoked to explain their mode of action is discussed. The advent of molecular genetic techniques in Drosophila has confirmed the importance of both cell-cell communication and gradients of polarity information in developing tissues.

Endocytosis of the apical junctional complex: Mechanisms and possible roles in regulation of epithelial barriers
Article Abstract:
Endocytic pathways, intracellular destinations and signaling cascades involved in internalization of apical junctional complex (AJC) proteins are summarized. Potential biological roles for AJC endocytosis in maintaining functional apical junctions, reversible opening of epithelial barrier and disruption of intercellular adhesion are discussed.
