Loss of transcription factor IRF-1 affects tumor susceptibility in mice carrying the Ha-ras(ital) transgene or nullizygosity for p53 (ital)
Article Abstract:
Loss of transcription factor IRF-1 alters tumor susceptibility in mice that have the Ha-ras(ital) transgene or are nullizygous for p53 (ital). It has been shown that the loss of IRF-1 alleles in itself does not affect spontaneous tumor development in mice but greatly exacerbates tumor existing predisposition coming from the c-Ha-ras(ital) transgene or by nullizygosity for p53. IRF-1 has already been implicated in tumor suppression, as it suppresses cell transformation and mediates apoptosis in vitro. A greatly altered spectrum of tumors was seen in mice lacking IRF-1 and p53 vs p53-null specimens, and cells from the former mice have a higher mutation rate.

Suppression of epithelial apoptosis and delayed mammary gland involution in mice with a conditional knockout of Stat3
Article Abstract:
The article focuses on suppression of epithelial cell apoptosis in mammary glands. A conditional knockout of Stat3 to examine its role during apoptosis and involution of the mammary gland is described.
