Pax6 activity in the lens primordium is required for lens formation and for correct placement of a single retina in the eye
Article Abstract:
Pax6 activity in the lens primordium has been found to be necessary for correct placement of one retina in the eye and for lens formation. Several independent fully differentiated neroretinas developed in one optic vesicle where there was no lens. Thus a developing lens is not required to get differentiation of the neuroretina. The Cre/loxP approach was used to inactivate Pax6 in the eye surface ectoderm at time of lens induction.

Pax6 and SOX2 form a co-DNA-binding partner complex that regulates initiation of lens development
Article Abstract:
Pax6 and SOX2 have been shown to form a co-DNA-binding partner complex regulating lens development initiation in the eye. The complex is formed on the lens-specific enhancer elements, that is, the delta-crystallin minimal enhancer DC5. The co-DNA-binding partners regulate downstream target genes in early lens development. A functional expression screen was carried out using yeast cells. A general requirement of partner factors for transcriptional regulation by members of SOX and Pax protein families may exist. Possibly there are SOC-Pax partnerships in other developmental contexts.

mBtd is required to maintain signaling during murine limb development
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on murine buttonhead which encodes transcription factor required for specification and generation of Drosophila head. The authors have demonstrated that murine buttonhead homolog can support buttonhead-dependent head development in transgenic fly embryo.
