Relationship between succinate transport and production of extracellular poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) depolymerase in Pseudomonas lemoignei
Article Abstract:
The relationship between succinate uptake and extracellular poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) depolymerase production has been investigated in Pseudomonas lemoignei. Experimental results show that growth on and uptake of succinate are extremely dependent on pH, with optima determined at pH 5.6. However, growth on and uptake of succinate are markedly diminished with concomitant derepression of PHB depolymerase synthesis when pH increases to more than 7. It was also found that Pseudomonas lemoignei produces high concentrations of extracellular PHB depolymerase activity to avoid carbon starvation by using PHB hydrolysis products.

Degradation of poly(3-hydroxyoctanoic avid) (P(3HO)) by bacteria: purification and properties of a P(3HO) depolymerase from Pseudomonas fluorescens GK13
Article Abstract:
The isolation and description of a poly(3-hydroxyoctanonic acid) (P(3HO))- degrading bacteria and the purification and properties of a novel poly(hydroxyalkanoic acids) depolymerase is discussed. Experiments involve the isolation of the depolymerase assay, purification and identification of hydrolysis products and gel electrophoresis. Results indicate that high expression of the polymerase would depend on the presence of inducer compounds and the starvation of cells for cabon.

Identification of genes and proteins necessary for catabolism of acyclic terpenes and leucine/isovalerate in Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Article Abstract:
An investigation was conducted of the importance of individual acyclic terpene utilization (atu) and leucine and isovalerate utilization (liu) genes for functionality of the two combined pathways by GCase and MCase activity determination, insertion mutagenesis and Western blot analysis. Proteins encoded by two gene clusters of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 were essential for atu and liu respectively.
