Marker effects of G to C transversions on intragenic recombination and mismatch repair in Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Article Abstract:
The allele, ade-M387, was analyzed to determine the market effect of G to C transversions in intragenic two-factor crosses in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Results showed that the marker effect of M387 is stronger than that of other classes of base institutions. The effect was shortranged and is strongest for crosses with mutations less than 15 nucleotides from M387. Two different types of mechanism for base mismatch repair were suggested based on the results of the study.

Chi enhances heteroduplex DNA levels during recombination
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine the effect of Chi sites in recombination. The study assumes that such sites stimulate the RecBCD pathway, the major pathway of homologous recombination in Escherichia coli. Formations of heteroduplex DNA (hDNA) in lambda-infected E coli were measured. Results show that Chi processes conditioned Chi stimulation of hDNA formation. The results affirm the role of RecBCD enzyme in recombinant activity.
