The gene for Campylobacter trigger factor: evidence for multiple transcription start sites and protein products
Article Abstract:
Campylobacter jejuni NCT 11168 contains a gene which codes for a protein similar to the trigger factor of Escherichia coli. The Campylobacter tig gene codes for two peptides and the gene has multiple transcription start sites, co-transcription and sigma (super 54)-like promotor. This trigger factor reacts with human convalescent sera and produces an immune reaction in rabbits which immunized with acid-glycine extract. Overproduction of the trigger factor in E. coli causes elongation of the Campylobacter cell which become filamentous during the stationary phase of cell growth.

Bacillus subtilis genes for the utilization of sulfur from aliphatic sulfonates
Article Abstract:
There is a lack of information about the genes and enzymes involved in assimilation of sulfate in Bacillus subtilis. The tauABCD gene cluster has recently been identified from E. coli. The genes are likely to encode an ABC transport system for taurine. TauA and tauB sequences are similar to B subtilis OrfK and OrfL, which precede OrfM. Insertion of Tn917 led to resistance to the protonophore carbonyl cyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone.

Structure and transcriptional regulation of the gene encoding pyruvate formate-lyase of a ruminal bacterium, Streptococcus bovis
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the structure and transcriptional regulation oft he gene encoding pyruvate formate-lyase (Pfl) of a ruminal bacterium called Sterptococcus bovis. A batch culture of S. bovis was determined in 120 ml serum vials. Experimental results indicated that S. bovis influences Pfl and lactate dehydrogenase synthesis at the transcriptional level based on growth environments.
