Amazon is reported ready to link to other merchants
Article Abstract:
Amazon.com wants to be a lot more than an online bookstore and it continues to make moves in that direction. In addition to books, music, videos and gifts, it now will provide a link to other firms selling things that Amazon doesn't. At first, those firms will pay a fee for each referral; at some later date there may be a percentage of each sale involved. The new link will be called "Shop the Web" and includes L.L. Bean, the Gap, F.A.O. Schwarz, Brainplay.com and others.
