Great Britain: EU confirms beef ban despite protests

The European Union stated that the ban on selling beef from Great Britain will remain until the government can show that there is no more cause for health concerns about the potential transmission of mad-cow disease. The disease might be linked to the fatal Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

Judge rules on task-force secrecy

US District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth ruled that the National Task Force on Health Care Reform could continue to hold private meetings. The judge also ruled that the task force would have to open information-gathering hearings to the public.
