Nuclear nonproliferation talks open
Article Abstract:
The United Nations held a meeting Apr 17, 1995, of officials from over 170 nations to try to extend the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. The treaty took effect in Mar 1970 for a 25-year period and most nations have expressed the desire to have it extended indefinitely.

North Korea threatens nuclear-pact withdrawal
Article Abstract:
There were reports that North Korea is unhappy with terms of an Oct 1994 nuclear weapons pact, and may withdraw from the agreement. North Korea wants more technical and economic aid from the US, and less South Korean involvement in a project to alter nuclear reactors.
