Ruling coalition retains majority

The center-left ruling coalition headed by Premier Jean-Luc Dehaene received enough votes in the May 21, 1995, general elections in Belgium. Dehaene and members of his coalition overcame an inquiry into corrupt activities and a high unemployment rate in their reelection efforts.

ANC wins majority in local elections
Article Abstract:
South Africa held its first local elections after the end of Apartheid on Nov 1, 1995, and the ANC won 66.3% of the vote. The ANC won a majority of votes in every province but Western Cape, where the National Party dominated. Some areas postponed elections till Mar 1996.
