The City of Westminster Housing Department: innovation and the management of change
Article Abstract:
The use of private sector management techniques by the City of Westminster Housing Department produced mixed results. While cost savings were achieved through staff reductions, the complex situations faced by public sector entities are not always comprehensively addressed by private sector methods. More successful applications may be obtained by adapting methods to specific public service needs.

Exploring models for employee satisfaction - with particular reference to a police force
Article Abstract:
Research shows that customer perception is a significant factor in determining employee satisfaction within a police force. Models mapping job satisfaction, personal morale and colleague morale indicate that a positive public view is of primary importance to police officers. Other important factors include communication, selection and promotion and sufficient resources.
