The project office: an evolutionary implementation plan
Article Abstract:
The project office functions in 3 different roles in any organization, namely, in a staff role, in an enterprise role and in a line role. A project office needs to assume the highest level of accountability to become an independently functioning organizational unit. In a staff role, the project office assumes the role of an internal consultant by being an advisor or mentor. The project office becomes the administrator, monitor and controller in the enterprise role by collecting pertinent information. In the line role, the project office assumes the functions of the first roles while also handling and managing the actual project.
