A food malady that likes upwardly mobile women
Article Abstract:
Bulimia, or binge eating followed by self-induced vomiting, is most likely to afflict women who have the intelligence and education to manage a successful business career. Most bulimics begin this unhealthy behavior pattern around the age of 18 after successfully losing weight on a diet program. Bulimics are generally upwardly mobile women who measure their success in terms of the perceptions of others and are consequently achievement-oriented with perfectionist tendencies. Unlike anorexia nervosa victims, bulimia sufferers do not tend to be underweight, maintaining 'perfectly' normal body weights. Among the unhealthy side-effects of bulimic behavior are: tooth decay, permanently sore throats, vitamin deficiency, liver diseases and imbalances in the body's electrolytes. Bulimia can cause death, as when the self-induced vomiting creates a stomach rupture.

Consult a greengrocer
Article Abstract:
Coronary heart disease is linked to the presence of a type of cholesterol called low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in the bloodstream. If LDL is oxidized when circulating through the bloodstream, it will become trapped in artery walls and cause damage to the coronary system. Medical research indicates that people who consume anti-oxidants, chiefly beta carotene, and Vitamins C and E, have a lower incidence of coronary heart disease. Research reveals that European countries with low death rates from coronary heart disease have diets rich in vitamins C and E, while countries that do not, such as Scotland, have a high incidence of heart disease. The consumption of fruit and vegetables is a more reliable indicator of coronary heart disease risk than environment, heredity, or the intake of dietary fats.

Ripe old age
Article Abstract:
The onset of old age should not be regarded with trepidation. This period of life is now recognized to be a stage of life which can potentially be a period of great achievement for those who are prepared to learn how to use these years for productive and enjoyable endeavour. The growing awareness of the need to learn how to enjoy these extra years is therefore a welcome development. Indeed, the outdated stereotypes of old age still held by many Europeans may well be the principal hindrance to the enjoyment of this crucial period of life.
