A world apart
Article Abstract:
Quantum mechanics involves mathematical oddities, and physicists tend to focus on manipulating the equations involved rather than worrying about the meaning of those equations. University of Alberta's Don Page is a researcher who has concluded that such equations imply that there may be more than one possible version of the universe. He also aims to prove this, starting with a model to represent the universe's initial wave function. Similar conclusions could emerge from an attempt at describing the start of the universe by Cambridge University's Stephen Hawking and University of California's James Hartle.

Article Abstract:
The Cosmic Background Explorer recently detected microwaves which indicate existence of warmer regions scattered throughout the universe. The findings show that matter is unevenly dispersed throughout the universe, which conflicts with the big bang theory.

Far and a weigh
Article Abstract:
Scientists at California's Lawrence Berkley Laboratory are searching for the density of the universe. The density will be determined by measuring the speed of expansion and distance between like objects. The scientists are using supernovae to measure.
