Applecart: User Defined Characters with Apple Pilot

Article Abstract:

Apple Pilot is a computer language designed to help teachers in teaching science. The program provides a number of editors that can help the teacher to design a lesson program including graphics, various text-question-answer routines and alternative character sets. Pilot's graphics editor is also very useful in designing scientific diagrammatic material for presentations to students using the program.

Apple's SuperPilot is a creative, powerful programming language for educators who wish to use computer-assisted instruction. SuperPilot is now (August 1983) being distributed in England. It solves many of the problems of Apple Pilot: difficulty in recording and recovering student answers, impossibility of printing out a program while running it, and the slow execution speed.

This is the second article in a series of two. Pilot Animation is discussed. The Apple Pilot language was discussed previously. Pilot Animation is purchased separately from Apple Pilot. Pilot Animation is animation of text. It is just as easy to do the animation from scratch as it is to use the package. Program listings are given as examples.
