CALL RATES CLOSE AT 9%

The overnight call money rates were ruling at 8.80 percent to 9 percent in the inter-bank call money market on January 21, 1998. During the day, most of the deals were struck in the range of 8.90-9 percent. Many primary dealers paid back huge sums of nine percent refinance raised from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). During the day, the RBI raised Rs29 crore through its eight percent fixed rate repo. (ag)(vr)

In the interbank market, call money rates closed at 7.5 percent on January 29, 1999. The call rate which opened at 7-7.25 percent on January 29, touched a high of 7.75 percent with most of transactions were made in the region of 7.50-7.75 percent. The Reserve Bank of India's 8 percent fixed rate repo has garnered Rs1,103 crore. It had attracted three applications. (gs)(m)

Call rates in the inter-bank money markets closed at 8.80-9.00 percent on February 17, 1999. Call rates opened around 8.9-9.00 percent and reached a high of 9.10 percent during the first half of the day. However the later half of the day saw its fall to 8.75 percent. The Government securities' prices dipped from Rs100.26 to Rs100.24. (um)(psr)
