Choice Hotels sees need to become more choosy about its partners in Asia
Article Abstract:
Choice Hotels International Inc. (Choice) currently has 85 properties in Asia and it is looking to bring this total up to 225 by the year 2000. To accomplish this goal, Choice plans to find Asian partners who fit into the company's aggressive mold. Company officials privately express disappointment with some master-franchise rights holders who do not take much effort to build the business. Choice wants partners such as Indo Pacific Group Ltd., an investment firm that has been aggressively buying up and consolidating Choice master-franchise operations in several Asian countries.
