Ciba-Geigy agency links with Young & Rubicam
Article Abstract:
Advertising agency Advico Young & Rubicam (AY&R) of Switzerland is forming a strategic alliance with agency Allcomm Business Communication (ABC) of Switzerland. ABC was formerly pharmaceutical company Ciba-Geigy's in-house agency, with Ciba-Geigy remaining its main client. ABC is 90%-owned by Ciba-Geigy. AY&R is the Swiss operation of Young & Rubicam. Young & Rubicam will gain access to ABC's non-media marketing skills, while Allcomm will gain access to Young & Rubicams worldwide network.

German merger law hits local agency's bottom line
Article Abstract:
McCann-Euro Advertising, with a 40% share owned by McCann-Erickson, has filed for insolvency in the German courts. McCann-Erickson Germany has said it is no longer able to support the agency, which has lost clients since the merger, and German merger laws have prevented it from sacking former McCann-Erickson employees in order to reduce costs.
