Brazil has been affected by capital flight, though a rise in interest rates and some signs of recovered in world markets have eased the pressure on Brazil. There is concern that if Brazil is hit by currency devaluation, other Latin American countries could follow. Aid will be provided by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help strengthen the country's reserves. Brazil has developed an austerity package of increases in taxes and cuts in spending, with the IMF, to qualify for this aid.
