Daimler Chrysler has starts production activities in the Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
Evobus Bohemia (EB) (Prague, Czech Republic), bus component manufacturer, should produce 25,000 bus undercarriage segments at its plant in Holysov, the Czech Republic, in 2000. The firm produced 2,175 pieces of the components in 1999. The production of the weldments intended for the undercarriages of the line buses Mercedes-Benz and Setra was started in May 1999. It began at halls rented by SVA (Holysov, Czech Republic). EB's parent firm Evobus (Germany) has invested DEM 1.5 mil in the modernization of the halls so far. The modernization of the plant, which has about 250 employees currently, will go on. Besides the undercarriage segments, a large part of EB's production programme is represented by components for the buses Setra. Evobus is a part of the automotive company Daimler Chrysler (Germany/US).

Successful Witte Nejdek

Witte Nejdek (WN) (Nejdek, Czech Republic), car lock manufacturer, plans to raise the number of employees to 900 by 2001 compared to 600 in 2000. Increasing the number of employees is connected with the extension of production due to a new production room with an area of 8,500 sq mt. The room was built at a cost of about 140 mil Kc. Manufacturing was moved into it in April 2000. WN, which makes a wide range of car locks, is part of Witte-Velbert (Germany).

Pal is successful
Article Abstract:
Pal Praha (Prague, Czech Republic), car component manufacturer, invested 240 mil Kc in new technology in 1999. A part of the sum was invested in the construction of a new central production hall. The firm is focused mainly on the production of wiper sets and small direct-current motors. It doubled its exports in 1999 compared to 1998. Pal also co-operates with the concern Volkswagen (Germany) and Phoenic Mecano (Switzerland).
