DaimlerChrysler steers toward Asia
Article Abstract:
DaimlerChrysler AG is planning a 4.5-meter-long, four-door sedan that will be targeted to the Asian market. The newly-merged company is not yet certain if the new product would be based on an existing sedan or if it would create a new one from scratch, an activity that could take two and a half years before the sedan would be available to the market. The sedan, which will have a tag price of $7,000, should also promote the DaimlerChrysler name to the Asian market, where both Chrysler and Daimler-Benz have minimal presence. The new product should also bring the company in direct competition with such players as Toyota and General Motors.

The great survivor
Article Abstract:
The Hindustan Ambassador motor car is still very popular in India, despite being almost 50 years old. The Ambassador is dumpy, slow, has poor fuel consumption, is uncomfortable to drive and it is very old fashioned. However, it has a reputation for reliability, spare parts are easy to find and it is frequently used by public and military officials. Other models of cars are now being manufactured in India, such as the Maruti, while Daewoo, Ford and Opel have launched very economical cars. The Ambassador is being marketed in Britain and it will appeal to those who like 1950s cars.

Sole survivor
Article Abstract:
Lee Kwang Soo is a North Korean prisoner of war who was captured in 1996 after being shipwrecked off the South Korean coast. He was the only survivor and has become a guest of the intelligence agency of South Korea. He had little understanding of the meaning of money, having lived a secluded life on a military base. He had been told that the inhabitants of South Korea could not feed themselves and has learnt from the South Korean TV that this is not so, and that there is media freedom in Soyuth Korea.
