Denmark:Sonofon introduces flat rate for broadband
Article Abstract:
Danish telecoms clients' preferences to have a broadband link at a flat rate has caused problems for Sonofon, the Danish telecoms company. The company failed to win the number of clients it had budgeted for its wireless broadband network (FWA) that uses traffic fees instead of a flat rate. Product manager Aagre Schra says Danish consumers wish to know in advance what their Internet costs will be so now the company has switched over to flat rate alone for its broadband services. Sonofon no longer markets its products to non-corporate clients as the cheapest broadband product disappeared through the switch over to a new price structure.

Sonofon, the Danish telephony operator, has decided to give up its strategy of selling Internet subscriptions to non-corporate clients - a strategy it adopted only a year ago. According to Sonofon technical manager Jon Hoffmann, prices on the non-corporate market are too low. It is difficult to become profitable by offering non-corporate clients Internet solutions.
