Dollar: weak, but signs of turnaround
Article Abstract:
The dollar faltered slightly in comparison to other major currencies for the three months ending May 20, 1992. The slight weakness, however, did not indicate any serious potential downward movement despite extremely low US short-term interest rates in February with rates reaching their lowest levels in May, the lowest rates registered since 1972. The resulting rate differential across the Atlantic stretched to an unusually wide six percent. The low interest rate levels resulted in much reluctance to dollar buying such that throughout the spring 1992 period, a 2.8% depreciation against the deutsche mark was observed. Consequently, there was little enthusiam for selling dollars.

Logic the loser as dollar fluctuates
Article Abstract:
The Korean won has fallen sharply against the Australian dollar (AUD) and the US dollar (USD), but Hyundai announced that it will raise vehicle prices rather than lower them. The reason for this has been that while the AUD is appreciated, most of the trading is done in USD. Australia pays for imports regardless of where the imports come from.
