FRANCE: MILLERET'S GOALS
Article Abstract:
The Fromagerie Milleret, which produces 5,000 tonnes of soft cheese, 1,500 tonnes of French Emmental, and 900 tonnes of 'grand cru' Emmental cheese per year, makes a turnover of FFr 290mn per year. It is located in the Franche-Comte departement, and it markets three cheeses in the east of France. Two - Le Roucoulons and Ortolan - are known nationwide and are sold in nearly all French food stores. The company intends to boost the sales of these brands. The Fromagerie Milleret wants independent retailers to carry these products more. It is going to launch Le Roucoulons, a wash rind cheese (a highly competitive segment) in May 2001, in order to promote it in stores, with 700 coordinators in 500 sales outlets. Milleret also intends to support Le Roucoulons. It will launch a FFr 7mn television advertising campaign in March 2001, with the objective of generating nearly 100mn contacts. This campaign is designed to increase the brand awareness of the cheese at the national level.
