Article Abstract:
It is anticipated sales of furniture and furnishings, in the UK , will rise by 9.9% between 1998-2001. The sector includes textiles, furniture and floor coverings. Sales of furniture have increased by 25.2% since 1995, to a value of 8,305 million pounds sterling in 1998. Furniture accounted for 62.9% of total value in sales for the sector, during 1998. Sales of textiles and soft furnishings rose by 9.8% between 1995-98 whilst sales of floor coverings, including carpets, rose by 9.2% in the same time period. It is predicted sales of curtains, mattresses and furniture for children will increase.

Article Abstract:
An exhibition 'Sir Gordon Russell 1892-1992,' celebrates the work of the furniture designer, Gordon Russell. Russell started work in his family's furniture business when he was 14. He was interested in the Arts and Crafts movement but joined this with the Modernist movement by adopting machine tooling and mass production techniques in his business. Russell was a member of the Utility Furniture Advisory Panel during World War II and involved with the 'Britain Can Make It' exhibition in 1946. He was director of the Council of Industrial Design which later became the Design Council.

Factoring in the furniture
Article Abstract:
The office property market in some of the coastal cities in China is undergoing changes. New premises offer cheaper and better conditions for a company's office space. The full cost of moving, however, is not factored into the search for low rents. Changing locations involves fixing budgets, finding property, and working with suppliers to appease staff members.
