The sale of Seita of France, a tobacco company, has been launched, with 26.6 million shares to be equally divided between institutional and individual investors. Core shareholders will have to pay a 2% premium on the price paid by institutional investors, with possible core shareholders including Suez, LVMH, Generale des Eaux, CCF, Societie Generale and the Bollore group.

Tobacco smoke clouds French plans
Article Abstract:
It is still not known whether Seita of Franch, a tobacco manufacturer, will be privatised before CNP in 1995. Seita personnel have had their civil service status abolished which has led to two on-day strikes. Unions are also against the privatisation of Bull, although it is believed that NEC and Motorola are interested.

Pechiney, Renault, CGM
Article Abstract:
France has unveiled its next round of privatizations, including car company Renault, Pechiney SA and Compagnie Generale Maritime (CGM). There are no short-term plans to sell Societe Marseillaise de Credit and Thomson. Both Renault and Pechiney will be sold via a market offering, while CGM will be sold direct.
