Health foods and organic foods in France
Article Abstract:
The market for dietary foods in France totalled 1.9 billion French francs in 1996, and estimated turnover in processed organic foods was 2.5 billion French francs. Organic grocery items are the most buoyant sector of the health foods market, and as many as 800 companies process primary organic products. The main suppliers of dietary and organic foods are Distriborg, Maison de Fleurance, Bio Vivre, Vitagermine, Nutrition & Sante, La Vie and Institut Vidal. Supermarkets and hypermarkets have a share of about 50% of sales of organic products, and both dietary and organic products are more expensive than conventional foods.

Mobile phones in France

The mobile telephone market has expanded in France with more than 13% of the population possessing a mobile phone. The three network operators are France Telecom, Societe Francaise de Radiotelephones (SFR) and Bouygues Telecom, with France Telecom having about 53% of the market, and they also act as service providers, along with other service providers. Motorola is the leader in mobile phones, and there are around 7,700 outlets selling mobile phones. Advertising spending has risen in line with market expansion, and fast growth in the mobile phone market is predicted to continue.

Baby foods and milks in France
Article Abstract:
Production of baby foods in France totalled 95,100 tones in 1997, and total retail sales of baby foods and milks through large grocery outlets totalled 3.84 billion French francs. Exports remain buoyant, and production is concentrated, with Diepal NSA and Nestle representing 98% of sales of baby foods. Dry foods packaged in cartons are a dynamic sector with retail sales at 246.7 million French francs in 1997. Market prospects are generally optimistic, with sales of baby foods expected to rise more than sales of milks.
