Several private Hong Kong companies have planned to put out their mortgage-backed securities in the market to test the maturity of the Hong Kong market on long-term debt bonds. Hongkong Telecommunications Ltd. and Dah Sing Financial Holdings Group are planning a similar mortgage-backed securities offering by the soon-to-be-formed Hong Kong Monetary Authority's Mortgage Corp. by issuing their mortage-backed bonds.

Analysts report that the yield is only one of the appeal of convertible bonds since numerous companies have been acquiring back their shares for months, with no impact on stock prices.
