INFORMIX TO MERGE SUBSIDIARY WITH INDIAN BRANCH

The database software company, Informix Corporation of USA plans to merge Informix Software India Pvt Ltd (ISIPL) with itself. ISIPL is the 100 percent software development subsidiary of Informix Corporation. The US company has invested $5 million in India and plans to invest another $5 million in the next three years. It plans to set up a second development centre in Mumbai. The company will focus on Internet-related areas and data warehousing. (gs)

AMPERSAND IN TALKS WITH 4 US COS

Ampersand Corporation of the US is exploring possibilities of acquiring four small software firms in USA. Ampersand Corporation is the subsidiary of Ampersand Software Applications Ltd of Bangalore. It has identified firms which are involved in client server and Internet applications. It is likely to finalise a deal with one of these firms in mid-1999. Ampersand is likely to incur an expenditure of about $3.50 million for the acquisitions. (gs)(vr)

KLG SYSTEL BUYS US CO FOR $11.5 M
Article Abstract:
KLG Systel Ltd of New Delhi has acquired Coade Inc, a US-based software company, for $11.5 million. To part finance the deal, the Indian company is thinking of a share swap with the US firm for a total sum of Rs25 crore while the balance will be paid in cash. Sources say that KLG is likely to offer its shares to Coade Inc at Rs450-500 per share. Coade Inc is involved in computer- aided design and engineering software products. (khr)
