Article Abstract:
Substantial energy savings should be made in the home if national plans to create an extra 4.4 million houses by the year 2016 are to succeed. Delegates at the Building Research Establishment's anniversary conference suggested measures to achieve energy saving. British housing is inefficient in terms of energy consumption. A national building labelling and energy advice scheme was put forward as a proposed method. Other recommendations were made.
